Terms & Conditions

Northview Doors & Systems Northview Partners LLC d/b/a Northview Doors & Systems Last updated: October 19, 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern residential and light commercial work performed by Northview Doors & Systems ("Northview"). By approving an estimate, scheduling service, making payment, or allowing work to proceed, the customer agrees to these Terms & Conditions.

1. NOTICE REQUIRED BY MINNESOTA LAW

As required by Minnesota Statutes § 514.011, subdivision 1, Northview provides the following notice in connection with your project:

"(a) ANY PERSON OR COMPANY SUPPLYING LABOR OR MATERIALS FOR THIS IMPROVEMENT TO YOUR PROPERTY MAY FILE A LIEN AGAINST YOUR PROPERTY IF THAT PERSON OR COMPANY IS NOT PAID FOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS.

(b) UNDER MINNESOTA LAW, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO PAY PERSONS WHO SUPPLIED LABOR OR MATERIALS FOR THIS IMPROVEMENT DIRECTLY AND DEDUCT THIS AMOUNT FROM OUR CONTRACT PRICE, OR WITHHOLD THE AMOUNTS DUE THEM FROM US UNTIL 120 DAYS AFTER COMPLETION OF THE IMPROVEMENT UNLESS WE GIVE YOU A LIEN WAIVER SIGNED BY PERSONS WHO SUPPLIED ANY LABOR OR MATERIAL FOR THE IMPROVEMENT AND WHO GAVE YOU TIMELY NOTICE."

This notice is provided as a matter of Minnesota law and does not by itself indicate any dispute, unpaid balance, or anticipated lien on your project.

2. SCOPE & AUTHORIZATION OF WORK

The customer authorizes Northview to perform the services described in the approved estimate, work order, or other agreed scope of work. Authorization may be provided electronically, in writing, or verbally when appropriate.

Work is limited to the services and components included in the approved scope. Garage door systems contain many interdependent components, and repair or replacement of one component does not guarantee the condition or remaining service life of other components.

If Northview discovers conditions that require or reasonably warrant additional work—including damaged framing, concealed damage, worn or failing components, unsafe conditions, or code-required modifications—Northview will explain the issue and obtain customer approval before performing work outside the approved scope. Any additional charges will be communicated before that work proceeds.

3. SITE CONDITIONS & CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

The customer is responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to the work area and for moving vehicles, stored items, and other personal property as reasonably necessary for Northview to perform the work.

Pricing assumes the site conditions reasonably visible or disclosed when the work was quoted. If actual conditions differ materially from those conditions, Northview may revise the scope or price after explaining the issue to the customer and before proceeding with additional work.

The customer agrees to disclose known problems, prior repairs, modifications, structural concerns, or other conditions that may affect the work.

Northview is not responsible for delays or incomplete service caused by unsafe, inaccessible, obstructed, or undisclosed site conditions.

4. PRE-EXISTING & UNRELATED CONDITIONS

Garage door systems operate under significant spring tension and commonly contain components of different ages and conditions.

Unless specifically included in the approved scope of work, Northview is not responsible for:

  • Failure of unrelated or pre-existing components;

  • Hidden or latent defects not reasonably visible during normal service;

  • Damage or deterioration resulting from prior repairs or improper installation;

  • Structural deficiencies, wood rot, corrosion, or prior modifications;

  • Damage caused by a previously unbalanced, damaged, or unsafe door system; or

  • Normal wear and deterioration of existing components.

Repairing or replacing one component does not constitute a representation or guarantee regarding the condition or remaining service life of other components.

5. PAYMENT

Unless otherwise stated in writing, payment is due upon completion of the work.

Northview may accept credit/debit card, check, cash, or other payment methods made available on the invoice. Returned, reversed, or declined payments may be subject to applicable fees.

A service call, diagnostic, or other stated service fee may remain due even if the customer declines recommended repairs.

Accounts not paid in full within ten (10) days of the invoice date may accrue a finance charge of 1.5% per month (18% annually) on the unpaid balance, or the maximum rate permitted by applicable law, whichever is less. Northview retains all rights and remedies available under Minnesota law to secure payment for services and materials provided, including the mechanic's lien rights described in Section 1 above.

6. DEPOSITS, SPECIAL ORDERS & PRODUCT CANCELLATION

When a deposit is required for a garage door, opener, special-order part, custom-manufactured product, or other material, the applicable deposit terms will be identified in the estimate or order.

Once Northview has ordered a special-order or custom-manufactured product from its supplier, the deposit associated with that product is non-refundable if the customer subsequently cancels the project. This applies regardless of the supplier's own payment or delivery terms — Northview is committed to the purchase once the order is placed, even where a particular supplier does not require payment in advance.

If Northview is unable to fulfill the order because of supplier failure, product discontinuation, or another material change that prevents Northview from providing the agreed product, any deposit attributable to the unavailable product will be refunded in full.

Repair and maintenance services generally do not require deposits unless special-order products or materials are required, in which case the terms above apply.

7. APPOINTMENT CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING

Appointments canceled or rescheduled with insufficient notice may be subject to a cancellation or service fee.

Emergency and same-day service are subject to technician and product availability and are not guaranteed.

8. WARRANTIES

Northview stands behind the work it performs. The express warranties below apply to the applicable service unless different warranty terms are specifically stated in writing.

A. New Door & Opener Installation Workmanship

Northview warrants its installation workmanship on new garage door and garage door opener installations for one (1) year from the date of installation.

This warranty covers defects resulting from Northview's installation workmanship. Product or material failures are subject to the applicable manufacturer warranty, if any, except where Northview provides a separate express warranty below.

B. General Repair Workmanship

Northview warrants its workmanship on repair services for ninety (90) days from the date of service.

This warranty applies to the specific repair or adjustment performed by Northview. It does not extend to unrelated components, pre-existing conditions, or subsequent failures elsewhere in the garage door system.

C. Tune-Up & Maintenance Services

Northview warrants adjustments performed as part of a tune-up or maintenance service for thirty (30) days from the date of service.

This warranty applies to the adjustments actually performed during the maintenance visit. It does not warrant existing components against wear, breakage, or failure. Component failures or other wear-related conditions occurring after the service are treated as a new service issue unless covered by another applicable warranty.

D. Spring Replacement Warranty

Northview provides an extended warranty on eligible replacement garage door springs supplied and installed by Northview.

Standard-Cycle Springs: Standard-cycle replacement springs are warranted against spring breakage for five (5) years from the date of installation. This five-year term also applies to standard-cycle springs Northview installed before October 19, 2026, measured from their original installation date.

High-Cycle Springs: Replacement springs installed as High-Cycle Spring Service are warranted against spring breakage for ten (10) years from the date of installation. High-Cycle Spring Service means springs that meet Northview's high-cycle sizing standard for the specific door on which they are installed, as identified on Northview's estimate or invoice.

If an eligible replacement spring breaks during the applicable warranty period under normal operation, Northview will replace the failed spring and perform the associated spring-replacement labor at no charge. There is no service-call or diagnostic fee for a visit at which Northview confirms a spring failure covered by this warranty.

If Northview determines that the reported problem is not a spring failure covered by this warranty, Northview's standard diagnostic or service-call fee applies as described in Section 5. Any repair will be quoted and approved before work begins as described in Section 2.

This warranty is a specific exception to the general 'normal wear and tear' exclusion in Section 8(F). Spring breakage resulting from ordinary cyclic fatigue during the applicable warranty period is covered.

The spring warranty applies to the spring itself and does not extend the warranty of cables, bearings, drums, rollers, hinges, openers, tracks, sections, or other components of the garage door system.

The spring warranty does not cover failure or damage resulting from:

  • Collision, impact, abuse, or misuse;

  • Significant corrosion or unusual environmental exposure;

  • Modification, repair, or alteration of the spring or door system by others;

  • A material change in the weight or configuration of the garage door after the spring was installed;

  • Failure of another component that damages the spring;

  • Fire, flooding, lightning, wind, or other external causes; or

  • Operation of a door that has been materially damaged or altered after Northview's service.

Published or estimated spring cycle ratings describe expected design life under specified operating conditions and are not guarantees of the number of cycles a spring will achieve.

Unless specifically identified as High-Cycle Spring Service on Northview's estimate or invoice, a replacement spring is considered a standard-cycle spring for warranty purposes.

For a multi-spring system, the warranty applies individually to each spring supplied and installed by Northview. If one spring fails, the warranty covers replacement of the failed spring. An unfailed companion spring will be replaced under warranty only if Northview determines that replacement is reasonably necessary for safe and proper operation.

Warranty Holder: The spring warranty is extended only to the customer of record for the original service and covers only springs installed at the property where that service was performed. It is not transferable. The warranty ends when the customer of record no longer owns the property or, if the customer of record does not own the property, no longer occupies it.

E. Manufacturer Warranties

Garage doors, openers, accessories, replacement parts, and other products may carry warranties provided by their respective manufacturers.

Manufacturer warranty terms, duration, exclusions, and remedies are determined by the manufacturer. Northview does not control manufacturer warranty decisions and cannot guarantee approval of a manufacturer warranty claim.

When reasonably applicable, Northview will provide or identify available manufacturer warranty information associated with the products it installs.

F. General Warranty Exclusions

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, Northview's express warranties do not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear;

  • Misuse, abuse, collision, or improper operation;

  • Failure to perform reasonable maintenance;

  • Corrosion or environmental damage;

  • Failure of unrelated or pre-existing components;

  • Damage caused by structural deficiencies or movement;

  • Alteration, adjustment, repair, or installation performed by others after Northview's work;

  • Damage caused by vehicles, property, weather, pests, water intrusion, fire, or other external events; or

  • Cosmetic conditions that do not affect the proper operation of the product or system.

Warranty work does not restart or extend the original warranty period unless Northview expressly agrees otherwise in writing.

9. SAFETY TESTING & OPERATION

Northview may perform appropriate safety checks, operational testing, and adjustments as part of its work.

Garage doors and openers contain moving components and high-tension springs and cables. Continued safe operation depends on proper use, periodic inspection and maintenance, and timely repair of worn or damaged components.

Customers should discontinue operation and contact a qualified garage door professional if the system exhibits abnormal movement, visible damage, unusual noise, broken or loose components, or other indications of unsafe operation.

10. HAUL-AWAY

When Northview replaces an existing garage door or garage door opener, removal and disposal of the replaced door or opener is included unless otherwise stated in the estimate.

Special disposal requirements, unusually large quantities of material, or materials outside the normal scope of garage door work may be quoted separately.

11. PROPERTY PROTECTION & DAMAGE

Northview will take reasonable care while working at the customer's property.

Northview is not responsible for damage resulting from pre-existing conditions, structural deficiencies, concealed defects, deteriorated or unusually fragile materials, or normal and reasonably necessary service operations.

The customer is responsible for removing or protecting vehicles, valuables, stored property, and other items that could reasonably interfere with the work.

12. PROJECT PHOTOGRAPHY

The customer grants Northview permission to photograph completed work and the immediate project area for documentation, training, portfolio, and marketing purposes.

Northview will not intentionally publish customer names, street addresses, license plates, or other readily identifying personal information in publicly shared project photographs.

Customers may request that photographs of their project not be used publicly by notifying Northview.

13. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Northview will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the services performed, including loss of use or inconvenience.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Northview's liability arising from a particular service or project will not exceed the amount paid to Northview for that service or project.

Nothing in this section limits any liability, warranty, remedy, or other customer right that applicable law does not permit Northview to waive or limit.

14. APPLICABLE LAW & STATUTORY RIGHTS

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota. Any legal action arising from these Terms & Conditions or from Northview's services shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Northview's express warranties described in these Terms & Conditions are intended to provide clearly defined service and product protections. They are in addition to, and do not waive, replace, shorten, or limit, any warranty or customer right that cannot lawfully be waived or limited under applicable law.

Where Minnesota law or other applicable law provides additional mandatory warranties or remedies, those rights remain applicable according to their terms.

15. ACCEPTANCE

Approval of an estimate, authorization of work, payment of an invoice, or allowing Northview to proceed with authorized work constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

If Northview provides different or additional terms in writing for a specific product, project, financing arrangement, commercial contract, or other special circumstance, those written terms will control only to the extent they specifically address that circumstance.
