The right opener isn’t
one-size-fits-all.
We install and stand behind two opener lines built on very different philosophies. LiftMaster, for a broad smart-home ecosystem and simple, familiar bundles. Sommer, German-engineered and built a la carte, so you configure exactly what you need and pay for nothing you don’t.
Request a Quote →Most companies sell you one brand and upsell you into a tier. We carry two manufacturers on purpose, because the right opener depends on what you value; not on what's easiest for us to stock. Northview is a direct Sommer dealer, and Sommer's engineering-first design philosophy is a natural fit for how we approach every installation, so it's often our starting recommendation. LiftMaster remains an excellent, fully legitimate choice, particularly if a broader connected-home ecosystem matters to you. Below, the case for each; then real configurations and firm pricing for both.
Sommer is the right call if you want refined mechanical engineering and a system configured to exactly what you need; nothing bundled in that you won't use. Sommer's Evo+ uses Direct Drive Technology: the motor itself travels along a fixed chain, so there's only one moving part in the entire system. It's also fully controllable from your phone through Sommer's own smartphone app.
- One moving part: Direct Drive design eliminates the chain-slap and belt wear points found in conventional openers
- Lifetime motor warranty on the base model: no need to buy a premium tier to get it
- True a la carte configuration: add only the accessories you actually want
LiftMaster is the right call if you want your garage tied into a broad smart-home ecosystem: not just app control of the door itself, but integration with locks, lighting, cameras, and other connected devices under one platform. LiftMaster remotes and keypads are also what most homeowners have already used at a friend's house or a previous home, and its three tiers come as complete, ready-made bundles.
- myQ smart-home ecosystem: All units come with a wide angle camera and smartphone app connectivity. If you are already managing your home's lights, locks, and security cameras through myQ, incorporating your garage door opener into this ecosystem is an obvious choice.
- Simple, complete bundles: three clear tiers, no need to consider a multitude of configuration decisions
- Familiar hardware: remotes and keypads homeowners already recognize
All Sommer pricing shown is for the Evo+, sized for a standard 7' residential garage door. Three common configurations below; the full accessory menu is available underneath if you want to build something different.
The motor, rail, wired wall control, and wired safety sensors. No remote is included because many people choose to pair the garage door button in their car to their opener.
The common setup many households want: two remotes for the cars, a keypad for entry at the driveway, and an extra work light at the unit.
Everything in the Everyday Configuration, plus battery backup for power outages and a WiFi module for remote monitoring and control from your phone.
